Hi all, I read somewhere (must've been on this forum) that barley rings are good for guinea pigs and that they're really good for their coat and general condition.

Anyway, I popped to the horse feed shop today to get a bag of Graze On for the piggies and while I was there, I asked about barley rings. They only sold them in 25kg sacks......but, never having tried my boys with barley rings, I was a bit worried about being stuck with a huge sackfull of them if they didn't like them!

So, my question is does anyone on here feed barley rings, would they recommend them, and, from first hand experience, what are the benefits of feeding them? I am very happy to get a sack if they're going to be good for Pudding & Squeak.

I got a little bag of them off ebay the other week - first time I've tried them (well I didnt try them the piggys did) .... they seemed to like them but since I'm not sure about them (as in how good they are for them) Ive just been giving them them as a little treat

Id be interested too in finding out how good (or otherwise) they are for them

I'm sure I read they are to be given as treats. I got a bag from animal magic pet supplies but my boys aren't really that bothered about them.

Hi everyone, thanks for the replies.....seems like they might be a bit of an acquired taste for the piggies! A lovely forum member (thank you!) has kindly offered to send me some for Pudding & Squeak to try, so I'll see how we go!

Thanks again, Tracey
