Barney has joined the herd

The herd is finally complete, we have been thinking they needed a neutered boar for a while now, since we lost Johnny and this morning Barney has arrived from Hillsbrooke rescue. He's 2 and a half and was neutered at the rescue after being passed from a couple of different homes. He was living with 2 sows at the rescue but they weren't bothered with him so we were able to try him with the herd.

He settled in straight away, lots of chasing and rumbling going on but they do seem to have accepted him.

There is still some chattering going on though, mainly from him if one of the girls rejects his advances, but he soon gets over it. He's a bit of a diva.

What a handsome chap! He'll soon learn his new place in the order of things...
 
Wow what beautiful markings he has. I am so pleased you have rescued him.
 
Awww Barney is absolutely adorable, I saw him on the website too! Glad to hear that he is settling in ok.

He wasn't on the rescue website, he was originally not going to be rehomed, there is another Barney on there though who is paired with our little Rose's brother. Our Barney had a different name which we changed this morning.

He's gorgeous x) x) Love his colours, what a handsome boy! Glad he is getting along well with his ladies.

Thanks everyone, he was fine this morning though I think he has been annoying them as he is very over enthusiastic and then when they get annoyed he still chatters. Am hoping things will settle down. He is very keen on little Star at the mo as she is in season and is encouraging him, including leaping out of the fluffy bed straight onto his back.

Millie who is top sow keeps shouting at him as if to make it clear that she's the boss and won't take any nonsense from him.
 
All going well still apart from the fact he seems fixated with humping Millie, especially her head, it's like a conquest to him I think as she's top sow :))
 
Yep, she does give as good as she gets though, and he just doesn't get the message. I think things will settle in a few days.
