Barney Licks Toby - Its All Just Wrong

Toby has a blocked tear duct. He has been to the vets twice and basically all we can do is observe in case any infection forms, he has had eye drops to no avail. Every so often his eye fills up with the milky cleaning fluid and it trickles on to his fur. What we couldn't understand is how there was milky fluid there one minute and then it would vanish - even from his fur. And then it all became clear..... Barney walked up to Toby and licked his eye clean. Now that clearly isn't going to increase the risk of infection at all is it!?!?!? MrS thinks its all a bit grim, I think its cute because Barney loves Toby. It doesn't bother Toby as he just stands there while his face is cleaned. We have tried to tell Barney that it isn't hygienic but he just doesn't understand, it must taste nice!

He did have drops but they didn't help. The only other thing they could do is put him under a GA, try to find the end of the duct and flush it but there is no guarantee. It doesn't seem to bother him and it isn't there all the time just intermittent. If it started to get infected then we would have to be more proactive but at the moment we are just observing as I don't want him to have an anaesthetic unless absolutely necessary.
