Barney Losing Weight- Bloat?

so are you going to the vets? As water doesn't solve medical problems I'd be more interested in the cause especially as you have stated he has lost alot of weight.

I have seen members say oh the pig is better now not get medical treatment only for the pig to go back downhill because the medical issue was never addressed and sadly some of they pigs didnot make it.

A member has even went to the effort to find you a vet, I would be inclined to visit them too and get a full health check for your pig.

Of course, but it will have to be tomorrow and hence why I'm trying to get him fed up and hydrated today- I've got to try the food part next because he seems quite weak-

He'll go and hopefully get checked out tomorrow, but I just want to get some vitamins and such back in his body,

Yes make sure he gets a lot of syringe food and also remember to syringe water him. Every little amount should help! Hope the vet appointment goes ok! xx

The only vet I can get him to right now is the Pets at Home vets, who I don't rate very much- But it is possible.

I'm getting some Critical Care now also-

Not sure if it is the lack of energy or the bloat, but he's struggling to walk around and he's slumped on one side. I really trust the Broxbourne vet, but they won't be open

Does your normal vet not have an emergency contact number, but if not i don't think you should wait until tomorrow because it might end up being too late! x

I just called, and they're open, which is really odd but he's booked in for an hour!

Back... And it's really bad news :...

Barney's passed away. He got to the vets but had a huge fit in the waiting room, the vet fast tracked him and spent ages with him, he thinks it was a stroke and nothing to do with bloat. He had injections and went on oxygen, and although he kept fighting, the best thing to do for the poor baby was to put him to sleep, in his mummy's arms. He's back home with us now, he looks so beautiful, just like he's asleep.

To think yesterday morning, if I told myself my little boy would be gone tomorrow, I'd have never believed it. I'd love to write a little piece about him somewhere on here, he was the best guinea pig in the world.

x

I'm so sorry. Please write something about Barney in the Rainbow Bridge section. We'd love to share your memories of him. Huge hugs. xx

I'm Very sorry to her bout your poor baby barney! Yes I think you should write something bout him he sounds like a lovely guinea pig *** had a fantastic life and you need to remember that! xx Rest In Peace precious little baby! xx

I am so sorry to hear about Barney R.I.P little man.

Hope your okay I lost my piggie last September very quickly like you have and it is such a shock how there go down hill so quickly. Thinking of you :(

Oh I am so sorry to hear about poor little Barney, he sounds like he was a sweet little boy and you loved him so very much. Popcorn free little man x

Now the dust has settled a bit, I do wonder what was up with Barney, because I'm not so sure it was a stroke. The vet at first said it was almost as if he had been poisoned, but that is impossible, and speculated on it being a stroke and his body was just packing up.

BIG HUG

I am so sorry for your loss. It is so difficult to accept what has happened when you have no idea what has caused Barney's death in the first place - nor has your vet!

RIP Barney - you were much loved and are very much missed!

The vet is a very good vet and he was great to my little Barns, but I'm not so sure it was a stroke. Whatever it was came on very suddenly
