basil is not right

hello every one i made an appointment for basil to see the vet this afternoon as he hasnt been eating properly for 3 days he is eating small amounts of veg and pellets and hes drinking. isnt complaining but hes just not as lively as he usually is spends alot of time sleeping in his crashpad he has also lost some weight. hes not eating much hay either. couple of times i have made him jump and he has teeth chattered at me. i hope its nothing serious we have had him nearly a month now and he was realy enjoying being here. :(:0
 
poor Basil really hope he's ok sending a hug to him as he's going to the vet

I initially wondered about dental problems, but unless it's genetic I'd say he's very young to be having teeth trouble. His symptoms are fairly universal - lack of appetite, weight loss, unusually sedentary.

Good luck for the appointment.

update on basil

what a night mare we got to the vets and there was an emergancy braught in just before a cat and it had to be put to sleep and the lady was broken hearted wich nearly set me off :0 we where waiting 40 mins so i was realy anxious sweety palms and everything :)>>> then it was our turn the vet checked him all over listened to his chest and tummy and heart an said he needed to xray him it was essential of course i said yes then he had to be admitted. the vet said he was well highdrated and that was a good thing.they said the will try to x-ray him tonight other wise it will be first thing tomorrow when i finaly came out it was 5.45pm then i had to got strait to work :0:0:0
 
i just keep looking at his empty c&c i took him in with his crashpad so i hope they keep it with him. when the vet was checkinghim over he was trying to climb up me he did see another vet as the first wanted a second oppinion. i have a headache and so far they said depending on what they find its arround £120.
 
fingers crossed for Basil he's a little sweetie i've fallen for him a bit as he's had a hard start sending good vibes to Basil & you

vets are expensive but they should find out whats wrong with him xx

thanx ollie i hope he will be ok my daughter said hes strong he will be fine. i have only had him a month but it feels like forever hes such a little character :)
 
he's a little stunner Basil is a strong boy & has so much going for him he's got to ladies waiting xx
 
Which part of him is being xrayed?
It seems from the cost that they have given him a GA to take the film.

my little man is home

hi all i think all your positive vibes worked. the vet rang me at 7.50am to say he was much brighter and he was being given baytril she said his breathing is a lot less irratic than yesterday the vet said it was bacterial infection. he had an x-ray and an ecg. they didnt given him a GA they promissed they would try not to give him one. he is so much better i collected him at 10.30am i got him home and took him out gave him a cuddle and he said prrrrr lol then we gave him his meds and put him in his pen and he said prrrrr x) hes eating much better they want to see him again in 5 days unless he gets worse :(|) thanx every one

p.s the bill was a lot less than they originaly said which makes a change

now be a good boy eat loads & take the meds plus give mummy lots of purrrrrrs & cuddles x>>
 
Glad he is improving, keep us updated, I'm sure he'll be back to normal in no time. xx
 
thank you every body its much appreciated we have had piggie kisses and purrrs to day ^) hes not breathing fast at all now hes eating much more but still not back up to scratch yet. hes not sleeping half as much and was chewing his loafy toys. i have still got him on a hot water bottle and my o/h who was so against him holds him while i give him his meds then he cuddles and strokes him lol x)

thanx ollie :) i put the girls in there run beside him while i cleaned them out and he was rumble strutting for them then he gave both the girls piggie snogs lol x) so i think hes muuuuuccch better today bless him xx
 
Its lovely to hear some good news ,there are so many piggies at the moment who seem to be ill one thing after another, so its great when one gets better..
