Hi everyone

I've been reading the various topics on here and it would appear the Ikea noodle mats make great bedding.

I'm getting prepared for bringing our piggies indoors and have some cnc grids ready to build their new home, and was wondering if I'd has to be ikea bath mats or have others had success with other brands of noodle mats?
Ikea is a bit of a drive for me and frankly I dislike the place, where as Asda is on my doorstep and they have some noodle mats.

Also, do others put puppy pads underneath still?

Thanks folks

Hi I'm quite sure that as long as the mats don't have a rubber backing any noodle mats are fine I've used various brands and they've all been fantastic and they stay soft which my boys love 💙
I personally don't put puppy pads under them 💐

I have several of the Ikea mats and they are very good in the cages but thick and heavy. I have a 7kg wash machine and it struggles with them, more than 2 and the machine won't spin. I now only use them if I don't have any others clean. My favourite ones were Wilko (sadly no more), ASDA used to be good but the last ones of those I bought have a different fabric mix and don't wick. I got some really nice lighter weight ones from Aldi, I wish I'd got more than 2 while they were in stock!

Thanks all for the replies. Just so I understand, are people using bathmats as an alternative to fleece liners or in addition to? Might sound like a daft question but this is new to me and I want the best I can for the piggies.

I use mine in addition to fleece liners under the water bottle and my boy does all his poop and pee on there. I change it once a day and wash fleece every three days.

I use the noodle bathmats from Home Bargains, they only do them in white or grey. I have had them for a few months now and they have washed really well. I put puppy pads under them to absorb the urine that wicks through.

I put a thin layer of newspaper down, then fleece liners, then the bobble mats. I change the bobble mats every 2 days. I have 4 in the cage. The whole thing gets replaced every 6 days. I rub an old dirty bobble mat on the clean ones to make sure it still smells of them both. I’ve never had a problem with my boars fighting after a cage clean.

I use liners with zorb inside as it is wonderfully absorbent and the noodle bathmats (from ebay on the high traffic areas like under their bed or on top of their bed!

I use them up side down as the poos get very stuck between the noodles.

I have used IKEA and B&M mats. I much prefer the IKEA ones as the noodles are shorter and denser so they are much h easier to spot clean with a hand held vacuum. I have three layers: puppy pads, fleece and mats. Both wash and dry quickly.

Are your puppy pads disposable?

I have cage fleeces, small ones like a jigsaw. On top I have noodle mats from Tesco, Asda, home bargains etc and pee pads. My boys are neighbours, Sir George gets his pee pads changed daily as he only pees there. Master Boris gets his noodle mats changed every other day max as he pees everywhere. With the small fleece liners underneath, I can change just a small section at a time if necessary.

No such thing as a daft question here - we learn by asking the questions

I can't get a good Internet connection to check but I just searched guinea noodle mat on Amazon and found several brands and got a six pack. They all looked good and I got one with a picture of a guinea pig. I'll see if I can get a better connection later
What brand do you use? I’m trying to find some good ones.
