Calipso had her bath today; she doesn't seem to be too much scared of water, but of course she would prefer living in her filth...
look at the colour of the water

and now it is tea time...:D
another treat for Calipso and Calliope who had her bath yesterday. No pics for her... I needed four hands only for holding her!
(of course I let them eat only a little piece of water melon...)

You poor thing! They make it quite clear that they don't like baths don't they? :))

At least she's nice and clean now! I love long haired piggies but I don't know if I could deal with the up keep XD Such beautiful babies

Ouch! My arms are covered in scratches from giving the piggies summer haircuts yesterday too. I wonder what people think. Haha! XD They look so gorgeous, (as always!), and I bet they feel great all clean. Not that they are going to admit that of course. :))

Your pigs looking lovely as usual  I also got two long scratches today when Porridge was out for lap time and something seriously spooked her; had to use antiseptic wipes as it was bleeding :mal:

At a certain point I had to bow down for rinsing Calipso under the tap while she was trying to climb on me...
Honestly their long hair is not a problem... I hardly ever brush them (they hate being brushed), but her fur is soft and with no knots; I wash them once a month, although I wash their butt often, not only for preventing infections, but also for trying to get them used to the water... but I see they climb on me as soon as they realise we are approaching the bathroom! Water isn't definitely their ambient..
Anyway I have found a very good natural soap on sale: an unknown brand, cheap, organic, a good chemical composition and I find it delicate also for my sensitive skin! therefore here at home now piggies and humans have all the same smell!:D:D:D:D

actually today Calipso looked like a rat... she is quite slim...
I can easily imagine your scratches! It is like owning a cat... and it's funny here when people ask me if I have a cat at home and I reply "no, it is a guinea pig"; many people don't know them and stare at me without understand what I am talking about...:D

Haha bless! Now you just need a polar neck top for protection! :))

summer haircuts....... after the experience with my husband's hair some years ago, when he had to wait 3 weeks before going back to office, I have realised that hairstylist is not my job!! and in fact the only lock I cut on Calliope's butt is a disaster! :(

It was my first try, and it didn't go very well. They look like little bobble heads now! :)) At least it keeps them cool for the hot summer ahead right? Marla is tiny with her hair cut off, it's pretty amazing actually.

Hopefully I will get better with more practice!

Oh dear your poor skin ...

Calypso is such a beauty. You do take lovely pics of them.

My two have soft hair that doesnt really tangle. They also need regular butt baths which they are not impressed by. They get washed in the sink. Less bending for poor old me!

there is a dog here in my building who looks alike Marla (summer-version!)
anyway Marla's hair is awasome, both long and short version! is her hair a bit curled?

In fact I also don't find knots on their fur, except Calliope's butt! I cut a knot and now in the same point she has another knot although the fur is short there... I still don't find a good position for washing them though... they climb on me!

She reminds me of a dog I know too, it's a funny comparison. When I pet her it even feels like dog hair. Both my girls seem to enjoy being cooler. Her hair does gets pretty curly toward the bum. Around her shoulders and head it stays pretty straight though.

Your poor neck! Your piggies look so cute

I have similar problems with one of mine. She is so squirmy, hates being brushed, bathed or trimmed. She gets knots on her butt which I try to keep short and clean but I feels an impossible job!

I have just had a bad experience with the other piggie who hates the noise of the water from the tap, but her butt needed a good wash... I see that the soap is still there after three rinses!:yikes: my neck is worse than yesterday and I can't rinse her again... I don't understand what happened today!:mal:

Oh no! Poor thing - both of you!

She looks lovely and clean and getting grubby again eating some juicy watermelon lol. Owww naughty Calipso, that looks very sore.

I have to find out a new method for the bath... the problem is the noise of the water from the tap...:hmm:

I would use a jug (or a few so as not to run water near her) to rinse her. You can gradually build up to having a bit of water running without her having any contact with it. Good luck.
