Hi wonder if anyone can help,
I have read somewhere that it isn't recommended to bathe a blind piggie.....as it takes away their scent? Does anyone have any thoughts on this.
Izzie my blind little lady(cataracts) does need a bit of a freshen up,I normally bathe every few months with anti mite shampoo, but due to her losing her friend and now having new friend ,I haven't bathed her for a while....I'm a bit worried of stressing her out,
Thank you

I have a wee blind boy, and have bathed him a few times, its all about talking to them, and holding them close, I bathe them quickly and as stress free as possible, this should be fine, just watch for your wee girl, becoming stressed, I hope she enjoys the bath mine do. good luck.

My Hamish is partially blind and partially deaf. He hates baths but gets one every so often as he has long bum fluff which gets pretty nasty if we don't. The tip is to do it as quickly and easily as possible and not too regularly. You will never completely get rid of a piggies 'smell' so it shouldn't be a problem. They use their nose and hearing to find their way around if they have no/little sight but if their cagemate smells of the same shampoo as them then they will still know what's happening. Things like not moving cage furniture around so they get used to a layout is more important than avoiding baths altogether.

Like any piggy you shouldn't bath too often anyway. Once every 3 months or so should easily be enough unless you have a really grotty pig that needs it more often. YOu can also do a 'bum bath' just to wash the stinky bits instead of the whole piggy too.

I was worried about my girl pickle. She is blind and 5 years old. But she was fine with a bath. I washed the other girls at the same time so they all smelt the same and it made it easier for pickle. It has just taken longer introducing her to the new pig because she cant see it
