Hi everyone! I have just been round to my piggies and i have noticed some scratching in my group unfortunatley :( now what does everyone think i should do? There is eight piggies in my group and they all live in a shed so I'm not sure about bathing them but i know i need to get rid of the nasties which must have come in on the haymallethead so what does everyone think all opinions wecome! X x x x oh also i have 16 pigs althougher so maybe they all need doing if its come in on the hay? X x

We are having a right time with skin conditions at the moment. Possible fungal in two of our girls and all are being treated for mites. Have you checked them for any patches of dry/crusty skin or bald patches? I found with mine Rosie started first with itching and a small bald patch on her tummy so have been treating for mites with xeno450 (confirmed by the vet). Couldn't find anything else on the others so just treated the group. Then yesterday noticed that Tia had been grooming herself and left a patch of hair sticking straight up, which is when I noticed the crusty skin and also checked the others and Esme has a patch as well, I am just waiting on culture results from the vets before treatment.
I can't really advise about your piggies but it is definitely worth checking them over thoroughly. Gorgeous guineas has a good guide to help determine if it is mites/lice or fungal. http://www.gorgeousguineas.com/indentification.html
Is there anyway the piggies could stay inside after their bath? Sorry it's not much help

Aww poor you! :( i hope you get it sorted soon! I am pretty sure it is lice but the link you put on is very useful so i will double check. I could keep in two at a time but wont the lice just jump back on from the others that havnt been washed yet? Oooo it is difficult! Xx x
