My piggy Alan has been given a spray for his mites and am also going to treat Barry.

Now my piggys are used to me and handling would it be a good idea to bathe them, thoroughly dry them and maybe the next day apply the spray?

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Hi,

What is the spray called?

Is it a prescribed spray from the vets?

Ivermectin is the treatment for mites that burrow under the skin. This is normally given by a spot-on solution around the neck. I have never heard of a spray? Or your vet can give injectable Ivermectin.

However if Alan is being treated for Lice, which is often referred to as Hay mites which do not bury under the skin but live on the fur and can often be seen. Static lice and running lice are treated with a shampoo. The Gorgeous guinea Lice and easy shampoo works great.
Fungal some times goes hand in hand with mites/lice especially if your piggies have been run down or stressed and is often good practice to treat for this too. Again this is treatable by using a suitable shampoo for fungal.

But with regards to your originally question about bathing before using a treatment, this would be ok, but more info would be great. :)p

Hi! Thanks so much for your reply!

Yes it was prescribed by the vets and goes on the weight of my piggys. It's called xeno 200 and underneath says Ivermectin. It's for the treatment of internal and external parasites....

Would it be worth shampooing them in your recommended shampoo before application or will this be overload?! ?/
