We have a long haired piggie who is over 6 years old now. His hair is cut regularly and we’ve not really had to bathe him previously as he’s kept himself clean. He’s a very nervous pig so always been worried about unnecessarily stressing him out. Recently though I’ve noticed he’s not doing a very good job of cleaning himself anymore and could really do with a wash but I’m worried about doing it due to his age and nerves. Does anyone have any recommendations? It would be great if there was a groomer I could take him to to help but I can’t seem to find one near us and doubt vets will be able to help much. Thanks in advance!

I’m sure someone more experienced in older piggies will be along soon to offer some advice but I thought about recommending just a little bum bath so he isn’t have a full body bath which may not be quite so stressful for him and cleans the main areas that I expect he’s struggling to clean? Also I’ve seen people using a plastic washing up bowl filled with shallow water and placed in a bath so there isn’t anywhere he can jump from and injure himself so might be safer. I’m not sure if age comes into play with baths because my boys are only young!
