Junior Guinea Pig
After adopting Lulu, we were told she had surgery on her back about 2-3 weeks ago. We’ve only had her and Nelli since Saturday, but they’re already happy to cuddle and relax beside us.
However, when stroking them, I’ve noticed how horrendously filthy their fur is. It’s very matted in certain areas (especially on Nelli who has really long fur on her back), there are clumps of hair stuck together by god knows what, and after stroking them, my hands are sticky and nasty. I’m planning on trimming off all of the nasty bits of fur which are too matted to brush out, but I was wondering if it would be appropriate to give them a bath?
Even if it was simply rinsing off the fur with some warm water, to try to get the ick out. I presume they’ve never been washed before, and I know piggies hate baths, but their fur is really filthy.
Would it be okay to get Lulu’s surgery site wet? She still has sutures in, but everything looks really nicely healed. Sorry for asking so many questions, I’ve never had piggies in this state before, so I just want to do right by them!
Thanks!
