My poor arm has been scratched and scrabbled to bits over the last couple of weeks.

I've been treating my boys for mystery mites and ringworm, so they've had several baths and a dip over the last couple of weeks.

My left arm looks like I've been dragging it through a bramble patch every couple of days! In fairness to my boys whilst they'be been scrabbling desperately up my arm trying to escape the washing bowl - neither of them has turned their teeth on me in an attempt to make their feelings known. :)

So, any ideas on protecting my poor arm before they get their second ringworm dip this week?

Aww poor little things. They sound scared. Your poor arms too. I hope the next bath goes a little better.

Would marigolds offer any kind of protection? Or something like a bin bag wrapped around your arm?

Aww poor things.

Mine used to do that but I hold my hand up slightly elivated and let them rest their two front paws on it. They seem to freak out a lot less when raised up slightly like that and don't try to jump out of the tub anymore.

Do u have any pieces of rubber matting that u can put in the bowl or sink?
Like old bath mat or mobile phone matting, the spongy mesh type, used on car dashboards?
i have also done the supporting hand like julesie too.
Mine dont scrabble as much then. I also used to wear an old fleece when bathing them, when I had a flighty piggy, something for her to grip and it saved my arms too :)
All the joys hey :)

I've tried the supporting thing only to find Brunel, the younger of my two, uses my hand as a launch pad to my arm as a handy escape ramp. He's suprisingly agile, and can jump from a two footed standing position quite a long way.....

Poor chap, I know he's petrified of the whole process.

I will have to try some marigolds on the one arm. Hopefully the next dip will be the last one...

is it worth maybe giving 'bath' time inbetween that isnt so stressful? by that i mean put like 1cm of water in the bath, put them both in and let them play? then maybe they wont assosiate water with scary things instantly?

I taped clingfilm all over my arms last bath time which looked ridiculous but worked a treat! Need to get hold of some of those super long "special" gloves large animal vets need to use!

Clingfilm - brilliant idea. Will protect me from the claws and any chemicals in the treatment! :) Hopefully it'll stay put better than a carrier bag to.

Will give it a try when I dip them later this week.

Just tape it down quite well at the top of your arm so they don't end up pulling it down when they try to climb you!

I bathed mine today and was just going to post up some pics so will put them in here instead of making a new post. I put mine in a tub trug, which is in the bath. They can't jump out of that so no scratching.

And just because it's cute, a lovely snuggle after-bath

All good piggies get a treat :)

My job was easier than yours as mine were not being washed all over. They get a bit mucky round their back legs so I only had to wash that bit. Thank goodness.

Gorgeous pair. Good idea for a container. Mine discovered they could climb up me to get out of the washing up bowl in the bath combo I was using.

Trying to shake it all off....IMG_0477.webp

I've been dipping for ringworm too. Marigolds (thick ones not cheap ones) did the trick for me. Let's hope that was your last dip though!

They do look very unhappy when they are wet!
Hope it's your last go at this.
