Do all pigs need a bath every so often or is it only long haired / boys that need bathing? Only had my girls for 2 weeks so they're fine at the moment, but it's my first time having pigs so wanted to check in case they need bathing every few months?

If you go to the 'Guinea Pig Care Reference' section of the forum there is a whole sticky post about bathing and how to do it.

It suggests every month-six weeks depending on the length of your guinea pigs fur. Hope this helps =]

thanks, had a look round but didn't see that post :) think I'll wait till they're tamer before they have their first bath.

What shampoo does everyone use?

yeah i was wondering this cos my amber who annie is taking milk from her belly is a bit smelly lol

Gorgeous Guineas do a lovely range of shampoos to suit, bit more expensive but good stuff - I like their Perfect Paws ointment, Posh 'n' Go shampers and have ordered some Aloe Vera gel to keep in their 'first aid' kit.
Some people use Johnson's baby shampoo but I prefer to stick with the GG atm, have used the Johnson's Insecticidal which leaves their hair beautifully soft and clean but have reverted back to the GG range :)
If your girl just needs a quick wash, try warm water and a gentle rub to freshen her up :))
