how do you bath your piggies would love to know. weve only had them about 6 weeks so were new to everything

Hiya,

I put my boys into the bath with the plug in but no water. Fill the sink up with nice lukewarm water and pour it over them, the bath fills up and they don't get scared. I find this the easiest way as my two daughters aged 6 and 2 always want to help and by using the big bath I find it stop escaping piggies! :)

thanks for the advice but how often do you bath them weve never bathed ours yet had them about 2 months

Hiya Dannyr,

I'm new to piggies and according to 2 books I have you should not bath them more than once a month. I bathed mine recently for the first time and they loved it. :smitten:

I also blow dried them with my hair dryer on a really low setting to make sure that they were completely dry.

Also I've been advised not to use a baby shampoo and this can dry out their skin. There is a web site called gorgeous guineas with shampoos etc especially for them.

Good luck!

Hi,
I only bath my guinea pigs before shows but if i didn't go to show i would bath mine about 3 times a year. but if your guinea pig has quite long hair than maybe about 5-10 times?? i don't no much about long haired piggies!

Also what has not been said is that it is good idea to bruch/ comb your piggies hair after a bath. You can purchase a brush/ comp at pets at home or other pet shops. I cannot find the brushes on the pets at home website but here it is anyway! www.petsathome.com

Hi, i always suppose its best to leave things as natural as possible, but if they're particularly smelly lol or have long hair the odd bath wont do them any harm :) o i have a question actually, since living on vetbed my piggies keep gettin wee stains on them as they're both white underneath, why is this and should i bath them? thanks and sorry for going off the subject a bit x

I put them in the bath seperatly and put the shower on them. Then wash their hair. Always test the water on my own skin first but as my showers not all that pressured it's fine on them.

Hi all

I was also considering bathing one on mine as he is a white bore but he is yellow on the underneath. Is it too soon considering that i only got them on Sunday? Can anyone help?
