When it comes to bathing, I have read multiple advice. A book I bought a year before I got my piggies said that guinea pigs need a bath every season, but other places say that you should not have to bathe your guinea pigs unless they get really dirty somehow. One of my boys seems to have a quite greasy and smelly rear end too, quite unlike the soft fluff near my other boy's bottom, so should I just wash him anyway?

If he is very dirty and really do need a bum bath then that’s fine to do so. Generally they do not need a bath unless for medical reasons though

I rarely bathe my piggies - in fact some never had a bath.
It usually only is needed for medical reasons.

The problem with books is that the information in them can go out of date very quickly, so a more recent, verified information source is always better.
