Hi.
Could someone help me with what dose baytril I should give my guinea pig please? It's the 10% oral 100ml (per ml) x 5.0. He weighs 1.117kg. He's started squeaking slightly when his wee's, so i'm suspecting a UTI as he is already on a low calcium diet. His usual vet isn't in at Weekends or Mondays, so i wanted to get him started on antibiotics I already have in until i can see him. He's always been happy for me to do this in the past for my others when he hasn't been available. I just wanted to make sure as the baytril I have was for another piggy who weighed less.

Thank you 😊

I’m afraid that none of us on here are vets, so we can’t really advise on giving prescription only medicines to your piggy. If you’ve already got Baytril from the vets before, you may already have an idea what dosage was given previously. But please bear in mind that medicines do have a life once they are opened and this may not be effective if it’s been open for a while.

Yeah i completely understand.
It was given to his brother 8 weeks ago. It says 0.9ml on his bottle but he was 925g.

8 weeks ago is too long to use even if you could work out the dosage. Baytril should be used within 28 days once opened.
