Hello Guineapig friends,

I have been giving my Dom 0.2 of Baytril twice a day since last Saturday as prescribed by the vet.

The Baytril was to treat what the vet believes at this stage is a biological issue.

Dom has had no issues taking his Avipro plus 2 hours afterwards on each occasion.

The area in question has cleared up nicely since I wiped away the last and a very small amount of dry discharge which may have been produced possibly on Thursday.

Since then there is just a nicely healed pink patch with no signs at all of anything just hair missing.

The vet said to run Baytril for 7-10 days it's now day 8 and I've just given Dom the last 0.2 syringe of the day,

My question is do I carry on until the 10 days are up or discontinue now?

Thanks you.

Please continue the course as advised. He is clearly tolerating it well and its cleared up his issue, so best to continue the course :-)

Thank you, the vet did say 7-10 but I like to run things past The Forum members  I will run the Baytil for the longer 10 day period. Many thanks!

If you have enough to go the full 10 days, I would go the full 10 days and then see how things go. It's better than discontinuing too soon and having a setback. Sundae has been on a daily dose of Baytril for years to keep her bladder bacterial count low due to stone issues/recurrent UTIs that are hard to clear once they set in, so it's certainly not going to hurt to be on it longer!

Poor Sundae :( I'm not even sure how Baytril tastes, it can't be nice! Dom had his final dose this morning so it's fingers crossed whatever it was stays well away.

I'm not sure if it's a coincidence, but when my boys have lawn time things like this start to happen sadly!

It takes nasty, so I hear. None of my pigs have liked Baytril (though both Sundae and Linney did appear to like chloramphenicol, which smelled sugary.) Sundae is a really good trooper taking meds, though. She's a good little trooper about everything, really!

Dom has been very good, but towards the last couple of days he had grown tired of it.. poor little guy!
