Had to put my precious 7 year old Maisie back on Baytril yesterday which reminded me just how awful it tastes! Accidentally sprayed some on my lips one time and its like Bitter Aloes which used to used to stop people biting their nails! No wonder Maisie runs and hides when she sees the syringe coming!
Does anyone know if I could add something to it to hide the taste?

Some people add Ribera, but to be honest it means more liquid so we just try and get it in as quick as possible. Love to Maisie, sending healing vibes

Nothing can truly hide the taste haha it's foul! I use a bit of bribery afterwards to try and soften the blow. A nice bit of lettuce normally gets me forgiveness ;)

Oh bless her :(
Darwin, the piggy we are looking after is on Baytril. He was testing my nerves today, it took two of us to get some in his mouth!

Sending healing vibes for you little girl :) x

It really tastes grim doesn't it?! I've been unlucky to taste it too.

One of my boars used to refuse to eat after it, he wouldn't even take a treat of his fave veg. I had to give him the Baytril and then a dose of water to rinse his mouth. Then he would eat again.

I don't use Ribena but I know many people have, i used to dunk the syringe in a bit of 100% fresh orange or into a bit of tomato or cucumber to try to trick them. Sometimes it worked.

When my rainbow piggy was on Baytril I added the same amount of fresh orange juice as Baytril and he didn't mind it. Each piggy is different though. Good luck!

Comet refused oral Baytril for two weeks straight. I nearly ended up with him at the vets daily for a week because he was that adamant he was having none of it.

She won't have anything to do with me or food for a while afterwards! I'll try the orange juice or Ribera.

Yea they do have a bit of a strop don't they? :)) If you do use a bit of juice just use a tiny bit as it's quite high in sugar. I don't personally use it for the sugars but needs must! :)

I used a little dissolved Vit c drawn up into the syringe first then the Baytril followed by another wee drop of Vit c. Appeared to have worked as not so annoyed with me when I let her down again!
