Beano had a mild case of cystitis in May, which was almost completely cured by Baytril and Metacam. I did see the occasional tiny spot of blood now and then, but nothing worrying. However, just this evening, between 7 - 8 pm, she passed a LOT of pure blood, (about a quarter of a thimble-full,) as opposed to pink wee. Apart from that, she is perfectly fine. Of course, I'll try to get her into the vet tomorrow, but is there something better than Baytril and Metacam that I can ask for? I will try to get a sample in the morning.

Yes Septrin if it is a UTI. It could be Interstitial cystitis thought which is inflammation of the bladder and is treated with pain relief and a Glucosamine based product like Cystease. Another possibility could be ovarian cysts so best to see what the vet thinks.

it sounds like it never properly went away the last time. septrin or marbocyl are better choices for antibiotics, along with metacam, and possibly something to help the bladder walls aswell. ours use cerenia for this. and make sure the course is long enough aswell to fully clear the infection :)

:D Thanks for your replies, guys.
I got Beanie into the vets at 9.30 am this morning. The vet palpated her bladder but could not get her to wee. Said the bladder felt normal size. Beano showed no signs of pain during examination and is perfectly fine this morning. She ate all her breakfast veg and greens. I have not seen any more blood. She did not have any injections this time. I have been given 6 Cystaid tablets and 7 ml of Baytril. She is to have 1 third of a Cystaid tablet and 0.4 ml Baytril once a day. This is a longer lasting course than the previous one, as the last one did not cure the problem entirely.

P.S. it was Cystaid that she had before and not Metacam. My mistake.
