Beaphar Nature Guinea Pig Food....opinions?

It is better than a lot of the main brands and it seems to be grainless which is good. However it does contain some iffy ingredients that can flare certain issues like chicory which is high in oxalates and so not good for pigs with bladder issues. I have been involved in discussions on this elsewhere and we are currently waiting to find out what the vegetable proteins are and the source of the Spirulina. I have been told that Spirulina is not recommended for humans with a weakened immune system and the same will apply to animals.

It is probably my 4th choice pellet behind Bunny, Vitakraft Emotion and JR Farms Grainless.
 
thanks. I am currently using burgess as that's what Sweep ate at the rspca...but qm looking for a reasonable priced food I can buy in shops (not online). So think I will give this pack a try and see how they like it...I don't feed many pellets but want to feed a good one. Liked the fact it was timmothy hay based...rather than alfalfa. Will see how they like it :-)

If you wanted to try Bunny again at any point, they have changed the recipe (it is still ok, I checked) and mine are wolfing it down.
 
Thanks Helen. Once I have a job again I will invest in some Bunny...but at the moment saving all I can incase I need any vet trips etc.
Will be interesting to see if sweep will eat it...Honor eats most things...and seemingly so dose sweep lol x
 
Just wanted to add for the last 2 days i have been mixing in these into the current dry food (burgess) and they LOVE them! These are always the first to go amazingly enough! They look like "bunny" pellets in shape- long and thin, and ridged in shape, and they smell of a nice sweet hay smell.
I will be making a full change over in the next few weeks to these pellets. I am so pleased a I didn't like giving them burgess.
