It's bath time for the reptiles today. They are a bit too much of a handful to take pictures during (even compared to piggies mental bath times) but they don't like it too much either.
Sickboy for one is very unimpressed by the whole fiasco.
20140805_154657.webp 20140805_154640.webp He's totally ignoring me now, where he usually comes over to see what's going on. Might take a bit more than carrot to win this spikey boy over.

Haha, Sickboy is making me chuckle!
I never knew you had to bath reptiles.
Luckily they only need a bath every now and again. His little face is a bit peely with his shed so it helps loosen the skin off. Also makes sure they don't get any pesky mites :)
He is a proper character. Look at that grumpy face! Haha :D

Sickboy :) class name. Bath time with piggies is a nightmare, lizards must be difficult to say the least.

How old is Sickboy?

They have sharper claws that can't really be clipped down and he puffs up so I can't pick him up with bare hands.
He's about 2 (roughly) and still growing (fat) :)

He puff's up? He must have picked that up off Vimto :)) Bet the claws are tricky to avoid, good job it's a once a year job.

Arghhhh! That is scary! You are most brave, Sickboy obviously does not like baff time :))

Ooh we've got 3 snakes too. What kind do you have? Is a crestie a gecko?
He is corn snake I am going to put a picture of him along with some of my other pals in the 'Other pets ' bit in a minute. And yes its a crested gecko going to try and get a picture of him later :D

They are beautiful. I have no confidence with lizards (am fine with all mammals, happy to haul around cows and trim sheep's feet etc) so I am in awe of you!

Do your reptiles form a bond with you? I known nothing about them, so sorry if this is a dumb question but I am really interested in hearing about them.

Snakes recognise your scent but they don't really care much. It makes no difference to them if you handle them or not.
I like to think I've got a bond with Sickboy. He scrambles up my leg and sits on my chest when he's having a run around.
He's always interested in what's going on around him and will come out if his house to say hello if I open the door. It could just be that I am the food provider (apart from the crickets and locusts. Bleugh! )

Cupboard love in reptiles too! Your Sickboy looks amazing, and is in better condition than the Sickboy in Trainspotting.
The name seemed to fit him well with his yellow spikes. That, and I overfed him worms when I first got him as he was underweight and he threw them back up and looked really sorry for himself.

You have done him proud! He is now a very handsome chap indeed. Are they very difficult to look after?
Not compared to the piggies. Little rocket salad everyday and a little spray of water a couple of times a week and a few worms or creepy crawlies and he's a happy guy. His heat bulb and thermostat are on a timer so I don't have to worry about forgetting to turn it on in the mornings. The only things I don't like are the bugs (especially the ones that somehow escape their tank and turn me into a screeching wreck when I spot them) and his poos, which he always manages to do on my floor when he's running free! They are awful and stink so badly that I have to get the OH to clean up his accidents.

He is lovely, but smelly poop and escaping beasties no thanks! The cat litter tray is enough for me, especially after my big Hamish has visited, he does not cover his over when he is done. Phew!
