I'm going to keep this short and sweet as it's taken me a week to put this on. I lost Winnie a week ago. I don't think I can take another RB thread.

Sleep tight beautiful girl.

So so sorry to read this :(
You're not a terrible piggy mum at all Ruth, you're wonderful! Massive hugs for you.

I am ever so sorry; these things just happen and they are very heart-breaking.

The hot weather has cost me my Ffraid, and I am hearing of so many other piggies whose frailer bodies just couldn't cope with the sudden massive change in temperatures on the day itself or in the wake of it despite their owners doing everything they could to help their piggies through it.

RIP Winnie - you were a truly stunning lady!

Thank you everyone. The heat could have been a factor with Winnie even though we had blinds down, cooler packs in and she'd had 75% of her hair chopped. Then again it may not have been related at all. Can't believe I've lost my beautiful girl :(

I did all of those things with Ffraid, but sometimes it sadly only takes an extra stress factor like a weather change that is hard on the heart/circulation to tip the balance. :(

Please don't be too hard on yourself - you are a very conscientious mum. it is very normal for the onset of the grieving process after an unexpected death to feel guilty and to look desperately for reasons where you could have failed a pet in your care. It is an expression of your deep feeling of love and responsibility, not a reflection of reality.

Thank you Wiebke, that means a lot. I do like to think I do my best for my pigs, but you are right it does cripple you when you loose one unexpectedly, or even due to illness or old age.

So so sorry Ruth! :( Don't ever doubt yourself as a piggy mum. Your piggies are treated like kings and queens.

So sorry flutterby, you are a brilliant and caring animal owner. It's natural to feel guilty and to wonder if you could have done more, you did everything anyone could have done don't blame yourself it wasn't your fault. RIP Winnie.

So sorry Ruth xx it's heartbreaking to lose one and it's natural to feel to blame in some way even though you did all you could for your girl. Sleep tight beautiful Winnie. Xx
