My Guinea pigs are very playful with one another but when I turn the lights off they seem to have a party. They run and jump non stop. They go crazy at the water bottle (which I've read is normal) but I'm in able to sleep. They have to stay in my bedroom, and I'm not sure what to do to calm them down. I have tried covering the cage but not completely so they can breath, and now I'm putting down a towel so it mutes the sound of them jumping and running some but it's still crazy. I understand this is normal and is going to happen but any suggestions on how to calm them or make it quieter?

Try to make them tired before you go to sleep. Let them have floor time or hide food in their cage and let them look for it. Then give fresh hay and maybe veggies and pellets a half an hour before you go to bed. They usually sleep after they have eaten.

I have to be honest and say that this is pretty typical piggy behaviour.
They tend to work on their own time scale, and don't always want to go to bed when you do.
My piggies are just the same, and although not in my bedroom, I can definitely hear them playing once I switch off the lights and go to bed.

You could always give them a water bowl over night if the bottle is too loud and put the bottle back in the morning.
I would also add that as they get older they do tend to calm down a lot and become quieter and less manic, but this can take a few years!

Piggies are awake and asleep in cycles not like us so they are up and down all the time.... The younger they are the more energetic they are also...

Mine are always more active during the mornings and evenings. I do love watching the piggies pay on camera when the lights are out and we go to bed!
