I'm just wondering how a lot of set ups are.

if i got some fleece [would be very easy for me my mom sews], and put that around the whole floor, and put only the bedding stuff where they pee. is that good? theres no way anybody puts the bedding EVERYWHERE on a 2 floor cage...

also, i was wondering..ive seen little litter boxes for hamsters and stuff and i was wondering that once i find their peepee place in the new cage if i could just get that and change that out every once in a while, that would be cool.

but i guess that is almost the same as just putting the bedding in the spot where they pee.

sorry it is long, hope it makes a bit of sence lol8:)

What works well is to combine litter areas with hay areas. Pigs tend to mess most where they eat. If you have a large litter tray filled with CareFresh/similar bedding underneath a hay rack, you'll find that a lot more economical in many ways. :)

They will pee and poop everywhere else of course, with fleece it will stay dry though, and it's easy to sweep/shake the poops off, but the worst of the mess should be contained to the litter and food areas.

Hi,

brandi.dan is was kinda wondering that myself too.

i asked a similar question on another post but had no reply.

CCC4 i've just cleaned my lot out and have moved their hay rack to above their litter tray as you said, because i had noticed that the area below the hay was the area with the most wee & poo! So fingers crossed that will help a little when it comes to cleaning! Mine are still babies so no way would i expect them to be able to use the litter tray yet.....

my question was though, that i use vetbed and find it great, but i still use safe bedding in their hidey bed area for extra comfort & snuggability, but do i still need to do this? will the vetbed be cosy enough? its just that all they seem to do with the bedding is spread it around their cage making it harder to clean.

advice welcome please xx

Vetbed should be fine in their sleeping areas, are the piggies indoors? Another idea I have been doing as it is in their cardboard tubes, I have put vetbed or fleece inside at night time when it is cooler and find them snuggled in that :))
As long as they are out of drafts and indoors they should be fine and they often snuggle together for added warmth too.

yeah they are indoors, pride of place in the living room, nice and snug and warm!

Fab, no more extra bedding for me to buy then! will make cleaning easier too!

Cheers x

i got mine from a seller on ebay, i've just checked, but she only posts to uk. You could try searching to see if you could find a seller willing to post to you, try emailing the seller and asking, you never know.....

yeah i looked on ebay but they looked funny..like not vet beds..and they just called them vet beds..my aunt breeds dogs so I'm sure she gets hers somewhere, ill call her and ask her.
