Bedding fleece/wood shavings and a box for hay

I might swap from fleece to woodshavings with newspaper, I don't think I'm fond of fleece and as hay goes everywhere with shavings can just dump the lot. but I do have several guineadad and other liners so would be a waste there.

Would an office stationary type box with an entrance cut in filled with hay be a good hay tray, something low but could keep the hay. then I could just take it out and replace daily. I feel for washing machine if I don't get all hay off the fleeces. the piggies could go graze in it and likely do a lot of business there maybe.

That would do, though it wouldn’t last very long. It would be an idea to put some shavings or a puppy pad in the bottom. Alternatively you could buy a cat litter tray or cut (and smooth) a hole in a storage box.

Cat litter trays work well although our boys have a tendency to tip them over do you use a pet wash bag? They are great and catch all the hay from the fleece to save your washing machine!

I use a horse bag too for washing. Although it helps having a cat litter tray for the hay. I often place the litter tray in a big paper bag (Morrisons/Primark). Helps keep hay within the tray and the piggies like the extra cover and warmth. Despite all this, the amount of hair that clings to the fleece is disturbing. I brush off as much as I can but there is still a lot that just won't shift. Hope it doesn't escape from the hay bag into the machine. I find it a lot less bother when they are in they are in their outside hutch from April and they are on newspaper and shavings. Fleece is hard work!

I use trays sold ny ikea for shoes to stand in. They are shallow. I line them with newspaper and hay and have a magazine rack full of hay standing in the trays for extra grazing.

I use a cardboard box to contain the hay, with puppy liner at bottom of hay to make box last and easy to tip it all out and change to fresh stuff. I have a wooden shelter in the cat tray and they prefer to hide when pooping it seems!

I bought a plastic storage box, cut out the front for the entrance with a small lip and they LOVE it... they are always in it.. I have one either end of the cage ...
