Hi all --

On our adoption visit to LAGPR, we saw they use wood shavings for bedding. We get that for the horses, so we decided to try some in the guinea pig cage. We also use absorbent bedding pellets, which my wife believes are pine. The package says bedding pellets with zeolite. I think I read somewhere that zeolite by itself is no good for piggies, but what about these pellets? We thought they might work well in areas that get wet.

Photo of the package attached, they are Mallard Creek Megazorb premium bedding pellets with zeolite.

Thx in advance!
Aaron

Update: we also have this, 100% kiln-dried pellets, doesn't say anything about zeolite.

Here is what the mules' wood shavings look like, anyone see any cause for alarm for guineas?

The pellets do not look like they would be particularly comfortable on piggy feet. I once trialed something similar (Back2Nature). It had to be fully covered with a thick layer of hay everywhere.

Shavings are fine as long as they are not tiny pieces which could end up on the respiratory system.
