I have tried many things to get the smell of urine out of my two Guinea pigs bedding. I’v Tried borox, vinegar and Tide clean and clear. Does anyone have other things I can try?

Are they in fleece bedding? Try washing at 60c and put vinegar in the fabric softener compartment. It shouldn’t still smell after washing really. How long do you have it in there before changing it?

They are in fleece bedding. I use the warm/warm on my washer and change it out weekly. I used more vinegar last time and it was better but not gone.

Maybe try changing it more often. And maybe do one 90c wash. Otherwise I don’t know really.

Has your washing machine got a build up of detergent in it? Put on a hot wash with no detergent and if it you can see lots of bubbles there is a build up. Then wash your fleece on a 60°C wash with vinegar in the conditioner drawer.

I’m new to guinea pigs and fleece bedding but have followed same principles I use for cloth nappies. Cold rinse first to rinse out pee and stop smells setting then wash at 40 and followed by extra rinse and spin.
Works for horrible toddler nappies so can’t see why it wouldn’t work for guinea pigs. No fabric softener and extra rinse ensures all soap rinsed out properly

I would definitely try washing it on a hotter wash if you're not already. When I got my first fleece, the lady said to wash it at 30 degrees which didnt get rid of the wee smell at all! I now wash it at 40 degrees on the normal cotton cycle which is around 2hrs and no smells!
