Wat sort of bedding do you lot use
I use shavings......and TBH its a pain to clean........is there anything you can suggest using

I always used woodshavings but have just swapped to vet bed and would never ever go back! expensive to start with but so so worth it in the long run. :)

I use newspaper and hay mostly, but for frail oldies or poorly pigs I use vetbed.

about three layers of newspaper some woodshavings and medow hay, and timothy hay in the hay dispencer (as it is for eating not bedding.

I use vetbed, I put a thick layer of news paper under. I changed it every other day and shake poops off twice daily. I wash it in a tub outside with washing up liquid.

Newspaper, aubiose and hay. Wasn`t keen on the vetbed as the hay getting stuck in it was such a pain. I use vetbed on newspaper in their hidey area during floor time though as some of mine are too lazy to go back in their cage and pee ;D

I use profleece with newspaper underneath. It so easy to change and not messy at all. I have tried woodshavings, megazorb, vetbed and newspaper and hay and found all of them were too messy for my indoor cages, all four pigs were allergic to megazorb and were constantly sneezing past themselves lol! the vetbed was good but far too expensive for my cages so went for profleece in the end :) and its been great!

Pro fleece for my indoor piggies, and megazorb for outies... ;)

two of the boys r on woodshavings as they stink otherwise..... 2 girls r on vetbed and the 5 girls r on fleece..... its just wot works for them individually....

Yes it is for ordinary straw, but this short chopped straw is excellent - its soft, absorbent and as its chopped it doesn't cause eye poke injuries as ordinary long straw does.

See 'Russell Rabbit bedding' on the bedding thread for info.

You could just put some newspaper under the shavings, then you can just kinda roll it and plonk it in a bag, so its a lot easier to clean :)

I used woodhsavings...But when i took my piggy to the vet he said she was ill because of dusty shavings and he recommended Cat litter.Because its dust free...Its easy to clean out and is very good... :P

Cat litter is not safe because it contains chemicals which may harm a piggy.I find that a thickish layer of newspaper topped by a thick layer of hay works well.If I have an elderly pig or a poorly one,I use vet bed.

Paper cat litter is safe.

I'd personaly go with Vet bed, cat litter is called CAT LITTER for a reason lol it's for cats.

Normal cat litter isn't safe but we use to use a certain type for the Beardies which I pressume would be ok for piggies but it didn't look very comfy.

Loads of rodent people use it - people with hamsters, rats, gerbils etc. use PAPER cat litter, all it is is balls of absorbent paper stuff.

To my knowledge it's only the non-paper cat litter that is dangerous, in case the piggies digest it.

When I had my piggies I used strips of newspaper covered in a lot of hay. C:

By beardies you mean bearded dragons? they are lizards totaly different plus hardy but cool lol but don't comapre a reptilae to a mamal they have totaly different reqirements.

i also use megazorb, and pile one corner with hay for them to play in :)

megazorb is great, comes in huge sacks, really absorbant, and lasts ages :D

I'm not keen on fleece/vetbed as vetbed fluff seems to get stuck in the washer, and i think both fleece and vet bed are a pain to brush off, so if you dont get it spotless you find hay and stuff in your washer....not nice when you go to wash your clothes in there.

just my experience though

I always have newspaper at the bottom then a layer of either shavings or Carefresh (its too expensive to use all the time so I take turn about and that way the piggies get a rest from the shavings) then hay on the top. The newspaper makes it really easy for cleaning out. O0
