I'm using newspaer and shavings then hay, i then clean cage about twice a week. How do I clean the cage cos at the moment all i am doing it cleaning out old bedding and putting new bedding in..how can i was the cage out without the cage getting ruined with stuff? what other bedding is out there? Ive heard people say fleece, what is this? am new to having piggies, but am loving this site as well, everybdy is so helpful

I use fleece for my pigs its just fleece blankets although you can use vet bed or pro fleece available from pets at home and online but it is expensive. I went to bagain madness for fleece blankets and they work a treat but you do have to change evey 2/3 days. My rabbits were on fleece too but they like to dig so its not fair on them. I have them on Hay and newspaper now. :)

Yep and I have 4 cages to do but I'm a Stay at home mum so have the time. Fleece is more cost effective but the down side is cleaning it more often. :)

Oh yeah it can be washed. Just brush the waste into a bag then put the fleece in an old duvet when done just put a drop of dettol in the machine and spin it to get rid of any germs. :)

but washing it wont that irritate the skin on my piggies? the soap powder mite do something...

Nope I use surf and its never caused a problem I don't use softener because I heard that it stops the fleece from working as in wicking the wet away from the surface.

The plus side with fleece is there is no dust which can cause problems for pigs in terms of lung problems. Fleece may be harder work but I rate it 100% :)

where can i get these fleece from? or canu get them from anywhere?
