Guinea-piggies-94

I am in a muddle about what bedding is more comfortable for my piggy. It all looks the same to me but i dont no what one is more comfortable to them. Please tell me what you use with yours as i will try them out. Love Hannah and Patchy x :smitten:

Well in the main part of the hutch they have newspaper, and then sawdust ontop of that (In the winter there is hay in the front part as well) - in the bedding area they have paper on the floor and lots of hay in the bedroom

We've tried all sorts - I read that sawdust wasn't very good for pigs so were just using newspaper and hay, but it was getting really damp quickly, so last week I resorted to sawdust which stayed a lot drier, however we have found some Carefresh bedding which I have put in today, hopefully this will be even better,

So do you reackon it is worth tryin then for my 2 story run and cage? How many would you recommend?

Nice to meet you! I'm Katie and my piggies are Tiger, a long-haired Sheltie, and Jeremy, a big chubby ginger piggy who is in trouble for eating a ribbon off my top today and is going to the vets tomorrow!

Give it a try - I worry about them getting ill with sawdust but find it impossibly to keep them dry on just newspaper! There's a review of it under the "Bedding" section if you want to read about it.

I use a few layers of newspaper, a few layers of towels then a layer of fleece in my piggy cage ;) They live inside, so not too sure if it would work in a hutch outside.

mine live outside and have a good layer of newspaper then aubiose, and loads of hay.

I use newspaper first, then a good layer of aubiose, then hay on top-the cheaper stuff from supermarkets. You can get aubiose at most equestrian suppliers. It is actually made from hemp and is horse bedding and a massive (i mean massive!) bag costs about £7 and lasts for absolutely ages. Try searching for a place near you on the internet, there is bound to be one. Load in in the car and youre set for at least 4 months I would say, if not more O0

I use wood shavings on the bottom then a layer of newspaper then megazorb with woodshavings mixed in on top I put loots of mega zorb in the parts they tend to use the most for wees. I do all this in their room with hay on top.

when I used carefresh I only put it in the places they used the most to wee and the rest I used woodshavings under newspaper and changed the newspaper regularly, this made the care fresh last longer.

I use shredded paper, Rodney loves it, i often find him hiding underneath it and best of all its free. Both my mum and dad are able to get is from where they work.

I will try some of theese ideas as they sound great :-) I think patch will be happy now as i have tried 4 already :)
