Hi my name is Sofia! I have 2 guinea pigs and I use Aspen wood shavings and I want to transfer to fleece bedding, but my mom says that if they pee on the fleece it would get wet and it would make them sick! Is that true? I know that it is easier to spot clean the fleece.

Beautiful piggies! If you have an absorbant layer under the fleece the pee will go straight through. You need to wash it at least three times before using it. Don't use fabric softener. I have sewn mine to waterproof bed pads. I use a kids brush to brush the fleece before washing it. So easy. I spot clean one or two times a day. Change all of the fleece once a week

Welcome. I have fleece bedding.
I put puppy pee-pads at the very bottom, and I put fleece lining, then on the very top, I place fleece pee-pads on high traffic area.
I change the fleece pee-pads every 2-3 days. I change the fleece lining every 5-6 days. When I clean the entire cage every 5-6 days, I throw away the puppy pee-pad that was put at the very bottom. I wash the cage with soap and water, then wipe with vinegar water to kill the bacteria.
I wash the fleece lining and fleece pee-pads with detergent, then soak it in vinegar water for a couple of hours to kill the bacteria.

I feel that fleece pee-pads get the most pee, and when that is changed very often, every 2-3 days, and soaked in vinegar water to kill bacteria, I feel it is clean enough for my piggies. Both my piggies are healthy without any health issues. I also use vinegar to clean their cage and their fleece lining.

As above great advise.. . we use puppy pads then couple layers of fleece.
Before using wash them several times. .
Ok piggie nails dont get the hard surface to keep trim but that's soon sorted with a trim
:wel: your piggies are gorgeous.

Hello and welcome to the forum! We use ready made fleece liners from Ziggies Piggies and they come with an absorbent inner which soaks up the wee so the surface stays dry and clean. Check out the bedding guide I've linked below, it explains all the different beddings and how to use them :)
