Was in the local pet shop on Saturday and they had 3 babies in, so I looked at them as you do. Pet shop owner had them separated into 2 boars and a sow, but she said she wasn't sure about the 2 boys being actual boys so I said personally I would put them in 3 separate cages. She informed me that the "2 boys" had been separated from the sow since they were 4 weeks old by the breeder so by now the damage would have been done.

I looked at both the "boys" and I could definately feel a shaft under the skin and get a penis to come out on one but there was nothing on the second boy. Anyway I left having given my tuppence worth.

Well I've done nothing but think about it all weekend (the shop shut at 4pm on Saturday and didn't open Sunday) so I dropped my daughter at nursery and went straight into the shop.

I've also spent a good bit of the weekend looking at sexing pictures and getting tips on how to get the penis to come out. So I spoke to the assistant (not owner) this morning and said they had been on my mind since Saturday. (Sorry this is getting longer by the miniute!)

Got the "boys" out of the little tank they were in as the cage was being cleaned out, and gave them a really good examination and deemed that one was definately a girl and the other was a boy.

I decided that as she was almost certainly pregnant, I wasn't going to let someone getting a baby piggy for a kid buy it.

Anyway you've guessed it, I came home with her and I took her sister too!

Just got to decide what to call them!

Photos below, the suspected pregnant one is the grey one

The grey one weighs 288g and the black one is 313g. Based on the weights any idea of age? The lady in the shop didn't know.

PS the other girls are called Gizmo, Lulu, Amber and Midnight

Cheers

At those weights they are very young to be for sale, most would still be with mum :-( so probably only a few weeks old and therefore unlikely (hopefully!) to be pregnant

Aww, what cuties, but they are very light. Archie was 450g when I got him at 8 weeks, but he was skin and bones. I hope your little girl isn't pregnant, good luck with it all if she is :).

Can they hurt themselves by popcorning too much? The wee black and brown one is being a complete idiot, charging round popcorning the whole time she is moving! She looks like she's on drugs!

Lol. I don't know if they can hurt themselves by popcorning, but I wouldn't have thought so. Maybe you could add some alfalfa hay to their diet to give them more protein and calcium. I'm just saying this from what I've read previously on here though, I'm not speaking from experience.

Keep an eye on their weights, if they are eating solids and know how to use a water bottle they will be fine. Just small amounts of veg and introduce gradually, if you don't know what they have been used to

Ahh, what pretty girls! I can see why you took them home!

(I was kinda naughty recently too and let my heart rule my head with Marmite <- )
