Cleaned the girls out this morning and left the hutch protectors open and the tarpauling off to get some air in the hutches because it was a nice day.....4 hours later its absolutely chucking it down with thunder and lightning!

I just sprinted up the length of the garden, being careful not to slip over in the mud, getting absolutely soaked to zip the flaps down but it was too late, the papers and bedding were absolutely drenched and the hay wet. When it stops raining ill have to go and put dry papers in. Grr!

All the girls were luckily snoozing away in the dry hay bedding part of the hutches which are protected by wooden doors and not mesh.

**** you english weather :(

isn't that typical? It has been dank and overcast all day here, but rain, although the forecast has been warning of thundery showers. Pigson and teddy have been out for a few hours.

Have heard there has been a bit of flooding in Stevenage. Not looking forward to the drive home.

Hertfordshire has a full on electrical storm at the moment with downpours, all the streets and roads are flooded. I'm not even going to attempt changing the pigs paper to dry paper because as soon as I get it out of the shed it will be soaked.

Oh how I dream of an indoor c&c cage where I wont have to battle the weather to keep the pigs happy. At least they dont mind the thunder, they are sleeping through it :/

Glad they are sleeping through it.

Am in Welwyn Garden at the moment but will see what it is like as I drive home then. Fun.

Bless them, I ran out there cursing and huffing, drenched right through, battling through the rain to put the flaps down and all I see is a pile of pigs snuggled up together snoozing away in the warm straw. None of them even batted a eyelide or lifted a head to see what their poor pig mother was doing to keep them dry. Slaves, we are.

Stopped raining and the pigs now have a dry hutches and ive put the protectors on and the cover ups. Stupid rain

Roads were very flooded in St Albans as I went to the vets about an hour ago. The rain came down so heavily and so quickly. It was unbelievable how much flooding there was! Thankfully it has now stopped and hopefully that will be it with the stormy weather for a good while!

Was a bit chaotic on the journey home, something had happened just after Welwyn too near the travellers sites, there were police, ambulance and fire engine. Not sure it was weather related.

Its been bright and sunny all day in Cumbria, the pigs and buns have been on the lawn all day apart from 15 minutes when I gave the lawn a quick mow. The hutches were all cleaned out and left to dry this morning. Seven tired and hungry furries have just been put to bed in clean hutches, with full clean bowls, clean bottles with cool clean fresh water and I'm having a soak in the bath prior to starting night shift at 10. What makes it better is its an overtime night shift worth £160 after tax! :yahoo:

What? Just for 1 shift? I am in the wrong job @ £8.60 per hour......

Overtime is paid at £21 per hour, plus 2 hours travelling time at £21 per hour and 62 miles at 45p a mile. ;)

You're both lucky, I've just been made redundant from a job at £8.05 per hour and am now on minimum wage!

That was me 5 years ago. I got made redundant from a very well paid job I had been doing for 25 years in one form or another. I will never get back to that salary , I cannot even get back into the industry, been away too long from it now. I had to change my career path, in my mid 40's - not easy. Went temping, which was minimum wage, got taken on a part time temp contact, which was 18 hours a week, go my hour up to 27, then managed to change jobs, it is only in the last 6 months I have a full time permanent job.
