What was that Mollie?

um... Did somebody say beetroot?
Hmm yes I think we should try some for a change.... Not had any for ages!
Soo cute
Xx

Beetroot is something I haven't given to any of my pigs yet. So pleased Mollie has brought the subject up.
Can I feed my guinea pigs raw beetroot?
How big a size can a guinea pig eat?
How often can I feed them beetroot?
Many thanks

You can feed raw beetroot to them - just remove the tops and leaves. Either give them a chunk or a slice depending on the size of the beet. Be warned, it turns wee a bit pinkish and their poos go a bit purple tinged, too. I feed it 2 - 3 times per week and it's a great favourite with my girls.

My boars love beetroot too. In the summer I grow beetroot the boys like to have a whole marble one each when I thin out the rows.

Thats a very gorgeous piggie, I love the guilt free expression in the first picture.

Ah that is interesting, I have not tried Beetroot with my little ones, I will try and see their mouths go all pink!

Her little face! "Beetroot? Nope, no beetroot here! "

I don't like beetroot, so mine always get what comes in a bagged salad (I must spend an hour picking pieces of grated beetroot out!) :D

Awwwww Beautiful little vampire piggy

Lol, Mr Rochester does that with celery, eats the leaves, sod the rest!:))

There's a fight for the celery leaves in the piggy room but the celery itself gets pushed round in the vain hope it might turn into something more exciting or be hiding something like beetroot underneath. Only when there's nothing else left and the slave comes to remove the empty bowls does anyone decide to eat the celery itself.

That is so true! Piggies can be such fussy little floofballs! :))

i never knew they could have beetroot... mind you i love it but only the stuff pickled in a jar
will try them with a bit when i find some raw - i think someone i know grows it....
