I decided I needed piggies in my life (probably a bit soon after my Bertie) so I visited a rescue today and brought home 3 - 6week old brothers. I saw them and felt they could not be split up as they all huddled together. Their mum, was already pregnant when rescued from somewhere horrible. To get to the point, I have just read, with horror, your post on care of gp babies that 3 boars even if they are brothers, will not get on. I was told they would be fine. I am now very worried that I have not done the right thing by them, by keeping them together.
They are currently huddled together and not eaten or drunk anything since bringing them home at 4pm. There is the occasional warning noise going on too. I feel really stupid now, but I felt sorry for them and wanted them to have a great life. Do I need to go out and buy another gp home in case of fights?

It's disappointing that a rescue wouldn't mention it to you :(

It is best to get a temporary cage just in case, it's likely that they will fall out but it's not certain. It's best to be prepared though.

I agree Cavy kung-fu. Worst case scenario I will have to take out whichever one is bullied and visit a different rescue to hopefully find him a new friend. I feel a bit misled but will love them anyway

My boars have done fine for a year as a trio, I've had to seporate archie (speedys brother) away from speedy & fang this evening - speedy has a abscess currently I think from a bite from Archie I caught Archie dominating speedy this evening, fang stepped in... I have a hospital cage anyway so it's getting used for a few days...see if the cool down helps! Archie is in a different room.
I have seen this searching cages on eBay! Think this would be a really good solution if boars don't get on but want to be near to each other. Could even have a really long version & separate in the middle so they can see each other but not harm. I'm stuck for room ATM considering I've had to bring my bunny in from outdoors :( I have 2 seporate cages in my kids room plus the piggies

I've got three boars, two brothers and their slightly younger half brother (I think). They have always been together. So far I've been lucky with only one short lived falling out which did not get to the point of splitting them. They are around 4-5 months now.
I have given them as much space as I can (5x3 c&c with a loft), and loads of floor time, and follow most of the advice from the boar bonding threads.
I'm prepared for a fall out and have extra grids to build up the way if they do, but it's worth a try, so don't worry too much, go with the flow and hope for the best but prepare for the worst. Good luck with your babies and when do we get pics?

That's a great attitude to have :) All we can do is hope for the best and deal with what ever happens :) Fingers crossed!

They are a bit timid at the moment but I will do pics hopefully very soon. I am giving them cuddles all together for 10 minutes at a time to get them used to me, and one is starting to make little noises
