Is it normal for a pig to calm down once he settles in the the uncle life?

I have a 5 month old boar who was very adventurous, excitable and loved to nibble on everyone and everything. Recently he has been put with a baby, so around 7 weeks old, and he seems to have calmed down immensely.
If anything he just doesn’t seem like himself, instead of squeaking and screaming all over the place when out of the cage he’s just laying down quite comfortably. He still prefers to be covered and is still quite a nervous pig, he very obviously lost quite alot of the confidence he gained from his older mate when they got separated, but i’ve never seen him this “chill”.

He is a lot more like himself when he’s in his cage, so perhaps he has just, as I mentioned before, lost some of his confidence that he gained while having an older much more calm friend when out of his cage/interacting with me.

Physically there doesn’t seem to be any issue, no weight loss, eating perfectly well but it just feels weird/off. Is this normal?

It doesn’t help that he has a funky haircut which is part soft, part dense, part long and short leaving him looking a little bit crazy in the first place 😂

Any change can alter their behaviour. Keep an eye on him for any change in weight and eating habits but I'd say it's being caused by his new status.

I would do regular weight checks to make sure he's maintaining his weight and doesn't have any signs of illness, but it can definitely be a result of introducing another pig. Not sure if he was living alone for a bit, but as pigs feel safer with other pigs around, he may be finally feeling relaxed enough with another pig to let his guard down a bit.

Keep an eye on him but perhaps he has just calmed down now he is secure in his standing as dominant with Remy.
Maybe he didn’t feel so secure in his position when he was with Winston and that is why he was always humping him

He does seem less ‘humpy’ nowadays which is a good thing, but he also seems not like himself so I don’t know wether to to be thankful or worried.

He was with a 5 year old boar he’s been with for months a couple hours before these two were introduced.

He was much more hyper and boisterous with him which is why I am somewhat concerned but I hope he’s just settling into the uncle lifestyle.

When I introduced my then babies Rosie & Lucy to my boar Stuart 🌈 he massively calmed down just like your boy. He was already living with an older sow, so the babies were an addition - I think my sow was relived he suddenly had no interest in humping her 😂 my partner and I used to joke he'd finally 'grown up'.

Btw he's gorgeous 😍
