Hi, just after some general advice. I got my neutered rescue boar Bertie in August to house with my bereaved sow Saphie. They generally get on ok and don't fight, however, Bertie seems to constantly be chasing and rumble strutting around Saphie. I thought this was just Bertie being excited by a female and to decide who's boss and would have settled down by now, but it hasn't. She does put him in his place by squirting pee at him when shes had enough, but am I being fair on her. Bertie is approx 18 months and Saphie is around 4.5 years. Do you think they will settle down as Bertie gets a bit older and less hormonal. Any advice welcome.

As long as Saphie is in control and telling him when she's had enough, then the bond is solid and it is still her in control. He is a young lad coming just out of his teenage months.

I divide my own 'husboars' into the 'rumble-singers' and the 'mountaineers' - it is usually either the one or the other in the first few months of them living with sows. There is usually a time when a boar seems to have a vocabulary of just two words - food wheek and rumbling... ;)

Ok, thanks, hopefully they'll settle soon. I just feel sorry for her sometimes as he mithers so much. I'm probably overthinking it as she got on so well and use to cuddle with her previous husboar Tybalt, but he was more her age so a lot quieter.

Bertie will eventually calm down. Please also consider that he is giving his wife a new zest for life with his enthusiasm, even if he is a bit of a pest!

Hopefully, he's like a bull in a china shop most days, rearranging their home, but he does have such a lovely character. 😍
