So I've just seen a Facebook post saying Belle left us yesterday. I hope nobody minds me posting about her, especially since she wasn't my dog, but my parents dog. And she was very much a Daddy's Girl. She was in kidney failure, pancreatitis, couldn't control her bladder or bowels particularly well, but my parents said as long as she was still happy to bounce around in a nappy, they'd know she wasn't ready for a goodbye either.

My favourite Belle memory is still the Pizza Incident - there's this really good Italian pizza place in my hometown and they do a seafood pizza, which I was eating in the shed in the garden. She kept bouncing at the windows, so I closed the blinds. This thing was covered in garlic and chilli, no way was I feeding her any. Eventually she disappeared and I thought that was the end of it. I thought wrong. She'd gone to my Dad and worried at him til he followed her downstairs to find out what was wrong. Yeah that's right, I wouldn't feed her pizza so she fetched my dad so he could make me feed her pizza. He did not find this as funny as I did. She never got pizza. Totally not worth it, lol.

This was the photo attached by my mum:

But this was always my favourite photo of her, lol:

it's a much older photo, I took in back in 2015. I spent quite some time trying to get her to just stay put and apparently she couldn't do it without pulling funny faces.

Goodbye, you miscreant princess.

She had a good run - my mum brought her home about a decade ago, a family member of someone she worked with had died and nobody else was available to take Belle in afterwards. Mum said it was "just til she found somewhere else" and then turned round and said nah, she's staying, sod it lol. But she was about 5 when that happened, so she was about 15.

Belle was clearly living her best life with your family and you ❤️
What a beautiful girl
I loved the pizza story …..what a smart girl ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I’m sad to hear she has gone to RB

Aw gorgeous Belle. So sorry to hear this. It sounds as if she found herself a good home. Sleep tight lovely ❤️

Have fun over the bridge gorgeous girl.

Your family gave her a wonderful life. ❤️

Thank you everyone, I'd pass your messages on to my mum but she'd probably find that a bit odd, heh. She was a snob of a cocker but she didn't have a mean bone in her body - unless you were a bird (she tried launching herself through a window to get at a pigeon sitting on a streetlamp), a cat or a squirrel. I guarantee that's what she's doing at the bridge, chasing squirrels 24/7.

So sorry for you loss but that pizza story made me chuckle 🤣🤣🤣 It’s like one of my kids fetching me to sort their sibling out! 🤣🤣 Clever dog! Animals are such funny characters! 💖 xx

I'm so sorry Belle had to leave for the bridge. Sending you and your parents my very best wishes.
Sleep tight Belle.

Sorry to hear that Bella has left for the rainbow bridge. She was a beautiful dog and was clearly living her best life.

@PiggyPoo I laughed so hard when it happened, and the look on my dad's face when he realised what she'd fetched him for was hilarious too. Not describable using appropriate words on the forum, but definitely hilarious.

I've passed everyone's messages to my mum, she says thank you :)

🤣🤣🤣 I can imagine! It’s hard when they go but at least you have wonderful memories to keep you smiling 😊

Sending love to you and your family xx
