Been to vets and its a stroke
he gave him a good exam and even showed me the muscle weakness on one side of the body. He was in no pain but would not have made a full recovery and may not have made much recovery at all. Plus a further stroke (which is common) could have killed him or caused him more distress.
Sat out the back of the vets (in the staff room) with a nurse for a good time deciding what to do. They offered to take him in and try and help him but said it may just cause him more distress and pain.
In the end I made the decision to have him put to sleep.
I know some of you may say this was the wrong thing to do but I could not see him like that, I did not want him poked and prodded with drips and force fed to try and get him better when the chances of him making a full or even good recovery were so slim.
Strokes are a freak of nature and little can be done to reverse the damage in a lot of cases. He was tired and needed to go to sleep. It in my eyes would have been cruel to put him through everything for little chance of recovery.
Bye bye Benjamin sleep well and you will be very missed.
