I can't believe I'm writing this. I got home about 3.30pm today and our beautiful Benny had died. He had been back and forth to the vets since late September with a respiratory infection but had been off the meds for about 3 weeks and the vet was happy with his recovery. I spoke to a vet on Saturday afternoon as Benny's breathing had become very obvious. He wasn't making a noise but you could see his sides moving quite dramatically. The vet said that these infections can take a while to shift and to give him more meds, which I did. Sadly it hasn't worked.

Benny was a real character and a very noisy boy. If he wanted his veggies most of the street knew about it! I am going to miss him so much. He was a P@H piggie and I'd always felt quite lucky that both he and Frankie were healthy. Before the respiratory infection I hadn't had any problems with them and neither of them had been to the vets, they will be 3 years old next week.

I really hope I did everything I could for him. He was my baby and will never be forgotten. Poor Frankie is going to have to put up with lots of cuddles from me. Sweet dreams my gorgeous, cheeky, noisy BenBen. Love you always x

Oh no poor Benny what a shock for you. My Chocs passed last friday so I'm sure they will have found each other and be having fun at Rainbow Bridge . RIP Benny x
 
Thanks you guys. I am absolutely heartbroken. Lindsay - I'm sorry about Chocs and I hope you are right, Benny will need a friend, he isn't used to being on his own. x

I am so sorry. It sounds like his heart has given out.

Karina I can't believe it. And now poor Frankie is on his own for the first time ever. I feel so sorry for him. He's currently on the sofa next to me licking my arm :(

Wiebke, that is what we are thinking.
 
aww sweets, how is Frankie dealing with it? Do you think you could get him a friend?

I dont think you need to question if you did everything you could, of course you did you are a brilliant mummy.

I dont know whether its worse for them to be ill and see them suffer or to find them gone and it has been quick.

Either way love, he knew that his mummy loved him so much, he has had a wonderful life with you (even at christmas whilst enduring your silly dress ups)!

Well, now you've made me cry again. Thanks for the nice words.

Frankie seems quiet, I'll probably put a teddy in with him at bedtime. Of course I'll find him a friend. I always thought that if I lost one of the boys I'd have the surviving one neutered and get a girl/girls to keep him company. That means he'll be on his own for a good while though first, but probably better in the long run.

I've got some thinking to do. Might see if I can talk Lee into upgrading the c&c prior to getting Frankie a friend.
 
I'm so so sorry, it does sound like it was his heart. Sleep tight little Benny. Hope Frankie is ok.
 
So sorry to hear you have lost beautiful Benny.

You have some lovely photos to remember your boy by there :)

Chocs will be looking out for him for sure, he was everybodys friend living with two other boars with never a grumble out of them. He even jumped in with my friends rabbit who was staying here and ate her nuggets! He loved furry friends and his food. X
 
Oh dear Rachel, I really feel for you. These uri,s are the very devil and not easy to get on top of. Asyou know my Panda is not fully recovered and I just keep my fingers crossed for him.
Benny has had a super owner,and a lovely life.

Such lovely memory pictures; I have begun to suspect that they actually watch what is happening on the television screen, and your picture seems to prove it. I am so sorry your lovey is gone.
