Hi All. I had to have my lovely Fudge PTS last week. His cage mate Oreo has been really quiet, though he has started eating again thankfully.

I am considering a new cage mate as they are such social animals and I don't think I make a very good subsitute.

I am reluctant to get him neutered as I have sucessfully bonded boars before and as I know it is possible I could not bear another loss if something went wrong.

When I bonded my previous two (they were not related) Oreo was just old enough to leave mum and Fudge was about a year.

Oreo is only about 10 months. Would my best option be another baby or a boar who is older than him?

I'm sorry to hear about Fudge. I would go with a baby boar as Oreo is going through the dominance stage you may have more luck with a baby. I've always done this and it worked a treat. :)

Thanks Sunshine, that was my inclining also as it's what I've done before.

Just have to work on the OH.

Sorry to hear about the passing of Fudge! :( Glad also to hear that Oreo, although quiet, is eating ok and getting back to normal.

I also agree that a baby boar would be best. If Oreo is 10 months old then he should not find a baby boar a threat.

I am sure that there are plenty of baby boars out there. Check out the rescues on here and on the internet, local to you.

Keep us posted how you get on.

Thanks for the replys. Fi has 3 baby boars at present she thinks would be suitable for match ups. Hopefully going to forward pics to help me talk round the Fiance.
