So they gave him baytril at my vets , vet said just use it for 5 days, and then see how he goes. He has been fine, no more blood. I didnt get probiotics (yet) anyways last night his poos were a bit not quite formed...so i didnt give him baytril last night as he is one dose off of 5 days. (I also had been chasing next doors bunny up and down the street, and had him in my spare piggie cage, but that is another story!) So just phoned my vet up, as I thought might give him probiotics for his tum. On phone for ages they say he shouldnt need it, mostly rabbits that need probiotics, and the ones they have are for rabbits. Just to keep him off veggies for a day or so, give him hay and pellets. I said e is weeing a lot they say that is normal after a urinary infection. So now am confusedmallethead.

Its always recommended to give piggie pro-biotics when on baytril or any ab's, its harsh on the gut and can put them off their food, you can get a johnstons probiotic powder to put in their water or sprinkle on their food which is what i have been doing and *touch wood* no problems with poo's or appretites.

Or you could feed poop soup, poo from a healthy piggie mashed into water and fed via syringe, gross i know but piggies love it and it helps their tummies.

x)x) I need to rush out and buy a healthy piggie....dont think hubby will accept that somehow. Not to worry off to hunt out probiotic powder..thanks for the quick reply...

I got mine from pets at home, but i know the range and smaller pet shops sell it.

Thanks Debbie. After phoning up almost every pet shop in Northampton and Collins just outside town I relented and went to P@H scooting in quick and not looking left nor right! I put the priobiotic***stuff in his water and he loves it! I have actually watched him with his water bottle and he knocks it from side to side while he is drinking. Just before bed I noticed more water was on the floor than in the bottle. I fetched my spare gerbil cage bottle and have filled that as well. I really need to get a Bertie proof water bottle.:))
ps excuse the asterisks I originally typed p....r....o...and it doesnt like it
