Hmm. Well-
Straw/Hay- Nope, nope, nope, no absorbency whatsoever.
Paper- Very good, ours was incredibly absorbent, not sure how comfortable it would be, but no smell at all. The regular purchasing of it can get expensive too, like with any disposable bedding.
As for wood shavings, I'm not sure...
But fleece is very popular- easy to clean, cheap in the long run, soft on piggy feet. I love it!

I think fleece is generally considered the best bedding for piggies. It's soft and wicks the pee away while keeping them dry. It could reduce the risk of them getting a URI compared to using woodshavings, which can also be bad for their paws. There's no waste with fleece, although there's the hidden cost of washing but I still feel it's cheaper than buying woodshavings etc.

Piggies also love to sleep/do the toilet in hay :P Hay isn't exactly absorbent but they love to borrow in it and keeps them warm. :D

They do! We sometimes can't resist giving them piles of hay. We found Duncan snuggled some once, looking cosy as anything, and not a few inches away was Godfrey, camouflaged by the hay! Took us a few seconds to see him. Little sausages:love:

I have 2 dedicated spots in the cage for massive piles of hay for them to burrow, it looks so cosy. love when you see a little head poking out :P
