Hi

My boars are in a 120 now they've moved inside but I don't think it's big enough now they are fully grown. I think commercial cages look better for us as a family with young children. I've been looking at ferplast 140, plaza 140/160 and krolick 140/160. Anyone got any recommendations? I'm hoping to buy hand made fleece liners to use with the cage once I've bought it. We do like the ramp as my pigs jump up there to sleep (individually).

Also how different is a c&c with lid compared to a commercial? I could be persuaded that way.

Thanks in advance.

I have three of the Ferplast 160 (with the added section at the end that can be separated). I really like them and they were a good upgrade from the 120. I initially used the end section as the hay area thinking that it would be a small area to clean more often however, the front panel on the end section does not open as easily as the rest, which does make accessing it a little tricky. I have taken the shelf out as it only has one entrance/exit and without the steps attached is is too flimsy to support the weight of the piggies sitting on it! I have put a step stool in instead. The water bottles that come with them aren't great (odd fixing and they kept falling off), so I have replaced these. I use paper and aubiose bedding - I find that if you overlap the sheets of paper you can simply roll them up which makes cleaning very quick and easy. Overall though, I'm really happy with them and would definitely recommend - I got mine from Zooplus and they were very reasonable :)

I've heard of people joining 2 pet store cages together. They just remove the end panels and join them that way.

Thanks so much for the info. Sounds like a Krolick you had (think it's called that anyway!) xx

Oh really? I've also got a ferplast 100 sitting around. They could have an enormous run! (Although not sure my husband would appreciate the whole utility room being taken up!) xx

:xd: Oh well maybe not an ideal solution for you then. :coat:Lol.

I think I'm going to give it a go! It saves money after all which may be an incentive for hubby! Thanks for the idea. Xx
