well i had some piggie-food bed-timing reading last night (printed them off here) but after reading the reviews i'm still not sure what would be best to start off with?

a reliable, good friend suggested pellet form is better for guinea pigs, but which one? i have no problems giving them pellet food as i give my picky chinchillas pellets, but could i add some normal food every now and then, like i do for my chins, to keep it interesting and if so, which food?

it seems they all have good and bad points but i'm sure there is one more favourable than the others?

thanks in advance :)

What do you mean by normal food, mine have pellets plus fruit and veg at teatime

Yeah I'm a tad confuzzled as well. I give mine 6 different types of veg a day, loads of hay and Tesco mix we haven't swapped to pellets as mine don't select feed.

Do you mean the brand of food to give or the whole thing veg as well?

:)

by normal i mean non-pellet form, you know has the green flakes and what-not in. sorry not very good at explaining myself :P

I don't give the muesli type as my piggies have a good variety of Fruit and Veg,when I got the girls they were on Gerty guinea pig mix,but they only ate certain bit's thats when I changed them to the pellets

I'm the opposite of Curly mine don't select feed so I do give the Mix and I use Tesco Guinea Pig food. My boys did like Gerty but I've read the reviews on here and changed them over because of the colourings.

Pellets/nuggets prevent selective feeding mine are on the burgess excel pellets and love them :) I some times give them muslie tesco purple bag for a change they always dive their nose in but eat the burgess excell first ;) I prefer pellets as I hate to see waste of any kind.

I used to give them guinea pig museli but then they started picking out certain bits. Then the rest eventually got soiled, so I switched to
'Peters lucerne pellets' for Moe and Patch, and 'Peters alfalfa-based pellets' for Koko because she's pregnant and needs the extra vit. C.
