I would think that Rye grass is the hardiest of the grasses for growing. After that, and if you can get hold of some, a Ley mixture would be great (contains Rye, Timothy, Clover etc)
Depends on where you are growing it though - outside is obviously preferable, keep well watered and cut - the more you cut when it's warm, the more it will grow for you, providing you keep it well watered and in the sunshine morning and evening - avoid the midday sun as the soil will dry out too quickly. Use a well draining light soil for preference, not the peat based planter material.
Rye should be available all over the world - not sure about ley but worth trying the farmers websites - only thing is you may have to order a fields worth
Good luck your piggies will love it - and you for growing it for them
I was going to try and grow some in a pot on the decking as i have so many 'wild' animals around here at the moment, spring time we have all the birds and then the fox comes back :{
Thanks Jo i'll go to our Bunnings and see what they have..... hopefully this also helps you too Tracey
