Best Hay And Online Suppliers?

hi all, just wondering what everyone's opinions are on the best brand of hay for their piggies (mine are 9 weeks at the moment) and as i don't drive, are there any good online deals on hay at the moment? thanks all! :)

Hi, and welcome to this fab helpful and friendly forum :)

I use an online company called....hay for pets.....my huge 9kg bag will last my three piggies appox 4 months maybe longer (I only use this hay as feeding hay), others on here us it too and it comes highly recommend. That 9kg vag works out at £16 including postage they do three types of hay and smaller cheaper bags. :) . When you buy hay a great tip is to empty it into an old duvet cover or pillow case as it should ideally be stored in a breathable bag. Hay to eat should be green and smell nice, I had brought a feeding hay from pets at home it was brown and yuk so I only used it as bedding. Also check through any hay you buy each time you get any to make sure it's not damp, got black spores etc if so bin it or send it back as this can cause you piggies to become ill and or get a fungal infection.

I use hay for pets too. I buy the ings hay for my piggies as its usually very soft and green I use it as bedding hay too and they love burrowing in it.

I also use the hay experts for food, hay and toys. I get western Timothy hay from there and the piggies adore it.
 
I have ordered from hay for pets several times and have always found the service fantastic. Once, I received some hay that I wasn't happy with ( I think it was because it is despatched in plastic bags and had "sweated" bit in transit). I emailed the website straight away and they replaced my order straight away.
I have just received an order from dust free hay .

Apperently they had the best hay in the world :P

i also use hay 4 pets for hay.

i like the hayexperts site and galens garden. :)

I decided to order from timothyhay.co.uk too. I ordered 10kg and received it within a couple of days and my piggies also love it! Thanks for the recommendation though! :)
 
I did contact hay 4 pets through their website as I had a query about delivering to Northern Ireland - the woman contacted me the following day and was lovely - I am going to take a punt on their hay once I feel I can cope with paying £10 for delivery of a 9KG bale :doh: I am sure it would be worth it - at the moment I use supreme meadow hay from amazon - seems like a great deal - no delivery charge and around £3.00 for a 2.5kg bale :D though I often get a pack from tesco for bedding - and it is always eating up too.
