I really need to get a new hay feeder thingy but I do not know which one to get.
Everytime we've ever used one, our guinea pigs just pulled all of the hay out of it and then ate a little bit off the floor. Now we just put a pile of hay on the liner, since it already ended up there anyways, but it's really annoying to clean up. What is the best hay holder I can get so that they can still easily access their hay, but it doesn't end up so all over the place?

Also another random question it's already started to snow here in Mi, and I have no idea how to clean the liner, since I usually shake it, beat it, and hose it off outside, before I put it in the wash. What do you suggest I do now?

I have a large shallow tray in their cage that I put their hay on so it stops it going on the fleece. I put a puppy pad underneath and clear it out every couple of days. This way they can snuggle in the hay and eat it without trashing the fleece. Then you won’t have so much to get off prior to washing. I have a rubber hand brush which helps get lots of hair/hay off the fleece and then it goes in a horse wash bag to be washed. I have a laminate floor so can shake stuff out onto that then sweep it up after.

My hay just goes in trays too. They are lined with newspaper which we change twice a day, the hay gets completely changed every 2/3 days.

We use a mixture of cat litter trays and potting trays (these are much larger and have one low edge).

Mine are large gravel trays with low edges. Gardening stuff is sometimes very useful for piggie slaves!

I use a shallow cat litter tray as mine love to snuggle and burrow in, hay still gets everywhere as they throw it around lol

In the past I've used cat littler trays and small plastic cat/dog beds. At the moment I'm using large corner rabbit toilet trays and plastic cat carriers with the doors taken off. I don't use hay racks I've heard of too many accidents with them and the piggies like to sit, sleep and burrow in the hay, it seems it tastes better when it's been pooed and peed on. I line the trays with newspaper, back2nature or megazorb and change the lining as necessary (paper everyday) the hay is topped up several times a day and changed completely every day. They have soft meadow hay in the boxes, a handful of Timothy hay is a daily treat, spread thinly on a sheet of newspaper to try to avoid hay pokes.
