what is the best gender/number to keep?
I mean
Two girls
Three girls
A neutered boy and girl
A neutered boy and lots of girls
Two boys?
Enquiring because I think I’ve fallen for a single 9 months old sow that is a lone pig and isn’t wanted anymore….
Advise please peeps x

I always have a huge soft spot for boars, so any well bonded boar pair is serious fun and daftness! or a neutered boar with any number of ladies, but really any piggies are wonderful and will give you lots of pleasure x

This girl that is in the pipe line will need a friend,
Do I get one other sow? or two sows, so they are a trio?
What’s better two or three girls?

Its all about compatibility really so saying one combination is better than another isn’t completely possible.
Its also a space issue - how many can you fit in? Will you have the space to split up piggies and make a separate pair if bonding doesn’t work etc?
What I will say is that it can sometimes be a good idea to work in even numbers so that the risk of an outsider situation occurring is reduced - a trio of sows could mean two end up being closer and the third gets left out…. But equally there are also many perfectly functioning sow trios when they have a good character match
